On March 23, 2003, the Winery Schmitt was award the DLG (Deutschle Landwirtschafts-Gesellschaft e.V.) recognition of DLG recommended winery. Wine purchase is a matter of confidence; therefore many wine lovers rely on the recommendation of the German Agriculture Company (DLG), Germany's agriculture entity which awards its DLG award to only a limited number of wineries and other agricultural establishments each year. With DLG's other awards for quality wines and the Deutsche Weinsiegel ("German wine seal"), it sets a clear indication highest standards and guaranteed pleasure of a winery's products.
It is a long way, however, from the vine to a good drop in the glass, therefore quality cannot be limited to the wine alone. When purchasing wine, you should be able rely solely on the winery or the winegrowers' co-operative of your choice. In order to feel comfortable in good hands, it requires:
